Deepocean Ghana: 3 year contract for Polar Onyx

DeepOcean Ghana Limited is a local Ghanaian company in which DeepOcean has 49% as shareholder. In 2016 DeepOcean Ghana secured with Tullow Ghana a long term LCV contract for the Dina Star for 3 years and 2 optional years. The Polar Onyx (Construction Support vessel) is presently replacing the Dina Star with some overlapping period in first quarter 2018. This allows the Polar Onyx to continue working with Tullow Ghana to provide inspection and light well intervention services on Tullow’s Jubilee and TEN fields continuing until March 2021.

Henk van den IJssel, DeepOcean‘s MD Africa and representative of DeepOcean Ghana’s senior management said: “We are very pleased that with this new contract we have the opportunity to increase the scope of work we are undertaking offshore Ghana for Tullow. The Polar Onyx is chartered from GC Rieber Shipping for the full contract duration, including further options. DeepOcean Ghana’s commitment to local content has been and will remain the key element of our contracts. We continue to demonstrate this through our use of local crew and in-country services, including Ghanaian ROV pilots and engineering support. The working relationship and track record developed with Tullow Ghana over the last 3 years has been the solid basis for this new award, whereby we will grow DeepOcean Ghana further to become an independent Ghanaian offshore marine contractor”.
