SEAWAY HEAVY LIFTING: Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm officially inaugurated

In 2012 and 2013 Seaway Heavy Lifting’s vessel, Stanislav Yudin, has successfully installed 160 monopiles and 2 substations for the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm operated by RWE npower renewables.

On Thursday 18th June the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Windfarm, located 8 miles offshore in Liverpool Bay, was officially inaugurated by Carwijn Jones First Minister of Whales.

With an installed capacity of 576 MW Gwynt y Môr OWF) is the 2nd largest offshore windfarm in the world. Gwynt y Môr’s 160 turbines will generate enough power to supply 400.000 residential households with renewable electricity per year - around a third of the total number of homes in all of Wales.

RWE’s Gwynt y Môr Project director Toby Edmonds said: “The Stanislav Yudin working with the Gwynt y Môr construction team achieved an excellent installation record completing on average more than one location every day. “This was carried out with no lost time incidents and no injuries. Safety was and remains our main priority. “ Gert Pellinkoft, Project Management Director of Seaway Heavy Lifting said: “We are proud to contribute to the success of the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm project”.
